Safety Awards Program
SDI’s commitment to providing a safe work environment for all employees is demonstrated in our one safety goal: Zero Incident Rate. No phase of business is of greater importance than our employees’ personal safety.
SDI conducts a company wide annual refresher MSHA Part 48 training every January. Each employee is required to also complete new hire training in addition to job specific training.
At SDI, we recognize that all accidents are preventable. As safety is the responsibility of every employee, SDI implemented bonus and award programs to encourage safe work environments.

2008 SDI Safety Program Tier 1 Prize Winner Nathan Larew, an electrician for Shaft Drillers International, receives the grand prize check of $10,000 from SDI Safety Director Scott Swiger.

Tier 2 Safety Program Award Winner Jerry Sheets, Coastal Drilling East Operator, takes ownership of the Polaris Sportsman 700, All Terrain Vehicle
SAFETY REWARDS PROGRAM
SDI supervisors and hourly employees, completing each quarter with no on-the-job injury requiring off site medical treatment, are eligible to receive a quarterly safety bonus.
SDI’s insurance experience modifier rate (EMR) has remained well below the national average and is indicative of our commitment to safety and health in everything we do. This lower EMR provides an advantage in bid applications and delivers a cost-savings to our clients.
